Abstract:
A letter from Dr. Sherry Linkon on the Website Archives. Starting in 1997, the Center for Working-Class Studies built a website offering an array of materials about working-class life in the Mahoning Valley, working-class issues and politics, and working-class studies as an academic field. The site remained online until 2014, and some of its sections, including links to a variety of sources, museums, and organization, were moved to the Working-Class Studies Association’s website (WCStudies.org).
The CWCS also created and (as of 2015) continues to maintain a blog, Working-Class Perspectives (workingclassstudies.wordpress.com), posting weekly articles and commentaries about class issues. In addition, the former co-directors, Sherry Linkon and John Russo, established the CWCS Legacy Fund, housed at the YSU Foundation, which supports ongoing activities in working-class studies as a field and in the Mahoning Valley.
While we could not preserve all of the contents of the CWCS website, the materials in this collection represent the range of work the Center undertook. They also illustrate its commitment to research and teaching about the Mahoning Valley, often in collaboration with community organizations and YSU students.
