dc.description.abstract Judge Nathaniel Jones was awarded the first Simeon Booker Courage Award from Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past at the DeYor Center for the Performing Arts. The sixth annual Nonviolence Week Parade and Rally was held in downtown Youngstown on Sunday. Students Speak Out was a panel held in the Presidential Suite in Kilcawley Center that allowed students to speak face to face with university leaders on the topics of race relations, policing and the racial climate in Youngstown. Raises for senior administration at YSU is questioned. Journalist Jerry Mitchell discusses his career to YSU students. A screening of a film directed by YSU Almunus, Eric Murphy, which featured the political rise and fall of Congressman Jim Traficant, was viewed on campus. YSU political science professor, Paul Sracic, will speak to students about the U.S. presidential election at universities in Malta and Bulgaria. Hispanic Heritage is celebrated in Youngstown. On Saturday the B&O Station hosted the Artists of the Rust Belt for the fall market of "Arts and Ales." The SOAP galley is celebrating its one-year anniversary with the premiere of their first national show, "Artist & Model," featuring a new style of work by Chris Yambar. Lit Youngstown presented Lawrence Coates and Christopher Barzak for the first Monday reading on Oct. 3. YSU's cross-country team is recognized as the best team in Ohio. The YSU football team prepares to fight against Illinois State. en_US
