dc.description.abstract Prieto Langarica, an associate professor in mathematics at YSU, was given the MVP award at the 25 Under 35 Awards Ceremony at Stambaugh Auditorium on February 9. Nicole Kent-Strollo stepped in as the director of Student Outreach and Support at YSU. An open forum was given to show that YSU speaks out against immigration discrimination. The documentary "13th" was screened for students, faculty and citizens in YSU's James Gallery in Kilcawley Center. YSU professor Snjezana "Snow" Balaz traveled to Washington D.C. to speak to congressional leaders about the importance of science and why they should protect research funding and science education. YSU hosted "Sisters in Law," a panel of successful black female attorneys who spoke to students interested in law careers. YSU's first dance marathon raises over $18,000. Creative protest signs from the Women's March are being saved. Dr. Louis Zona, Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Butler Institute of American Art, will hold five lectures to discuss famous works of art. A Q&A is given with artist Ann Hirsch. The Sister Jerome's Mission College helps low income students achieve success by helping them with living expenses. YSU's Fifth Annual First Pitch Breakfast draws a large crowd. YSU men's basketball team hopes to bounce back against WSU. The YSU women's basketball team looks to build wins with the last four home games. en_US
