dc.description.abstract The legacy and life of Harry Meshel is looked at. An online auction is taking place on specialized YSU Military themed football jerseys with proceeds going to the Veterans Resource Center Scholarship. Two YSU students, Monica Busser and Christine Langer, received national awards for excellence at the 2017 MathFest in Chicago. The national political science honor society, Pi Sigma Alpha, awarded YSU's chapter, Alpha Alpha Rho, the Best Chapter Award for the second year in a row. The issue of Fake News and how to not become its victim is looked at. Increased enrollment of freshman at YSU, along with construction and new buildings, has made parking on campus more difficult. Herman Boone spoke at YSU about the racial tensions he experienced as a high school football coach in Virginia during the 1960s and 1970s. The City of Youngstown and The Federal ended their 2017 Party on the Plaza series with a tribute concert to Chris Cornell. Local underground music act, The Safest Ledge, is reviewed. The McDonough Museum opened a Gertrude Stein salon exhibit to the public. Sports features Val Jeffery who was asked to participate in the World University Games for volleyball. The YSU Cross Country team look to continue its success in the horizon league. The YSU Football team look to win against Central Connecticut State University. en_US
