dc.description.abstract YSU has been reaccredited by the Higher Learning Commission through 2027. President Tressel highlighted the history, impact, progress, campus and future of YSU during the annual State of the University address. First-year penguins explore campus at IGNITE. The history of the Jambar is given. Theme for Welcome Week is "On Cloud Y." Ani Solomon is the new assistant director of diversity programs. YSU is leasing residential rooms for international students at the Erie Terminal in downtown Youngstown. Vegan and Vegetarian options on campus are given. Claudia Berlinski is named the art coordinator at the McDonough Museum. The new beer on the rise in Youngstown is "Penguin City Beer." Local band, Alteras, plays at Warped Tour. Rose Rivera talks of her study abroad experience in Thailand. Florida Georgia Line preformed at the Y Live Concert bringing in over 20,000 people to Youngstown. YSU men's golfer Kevin Scherr qualified for the 2018 U.S. Amateur Championship in Mitchellville, Md. YSU volleyball team is determined for a better season. Penguin football team is gearing up for their first game September 1 against the Butler University Bulldogs. en_US
