TEDx Youngstown was held on Sept. 22 and aimed to tell stories that were diverse but all leaned towards creating ideas worth spreading. With the growth of the Honors College, honor student representation on the Student Government Association is attempted. Lawrence McCaskill, sophomore, is looking to start a self-defense club on campus. A history of the Vietnam Moratorium is given. The "Reclaiming Our Identity" event was held by the City of You to push the idea of letting go of the city's past and building upon all the various achievements that Youngstown has recently earned. Ben Stein, a writer, lawyer and actor, was the Skeggs Lecture speaker. Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at YSU is looked at. YSU's Board of Trustees student members are interviewed. Jambar interviews Mariah Shepherd, a freshman laboratory science major, who has two novels published. The Jewish Culture Club's sukkah building and decorating event took place Sept. 20th to educate YSU students about Jewish culture. Roger Love, a prominent figure in the voice and vocal coaching industry, met and spoke to students, faculty and community members Sept. 21 in Bliss Hall's Ford Theater. YSU offers Adulting 101 sessions to give students life lessons such as budgeting, laundry and meal preparation. YSU volleyball looks to get back on track as the conference play begins. YSU football team is ready to begin the Missouri Conference play with a do or die mentality. NCAA rules help the YSU women's basketball team bond quicker. |
