Academic Deans Council Minutes : November 5, 1985

Abstract

The Provost is still prioritizing the NIE study committee's recommendation. Vice President McBriarty reported that if a student recipient of a YSU Foundation Scholarship drops out of school, the scholarship will revert to the awarding college for re-award. The Selective Excellence Program was discussed. Dr. Scriven noted corrections to the 1986-87 Operations calendar. Deans Ruggles and Yozwiak commented on new programs under the Economic Security Act. Associate Provost Hotchkiss noted the need for a centralized and expanded archive space. Limited Service contracts for Winter Quarter are due December 6. The Deans were reminded of the schedule for tenure reviews. Deadline for Faculty Improvement Leaves was November 1. The Academic Affairs Manual was completely revised. The Committee on Academic Planing is encouraging academic planning at the department level. Data on faculty was complied by Vice President Alderman. IBM portable computers will be available for purchase in lots of twelve or more. Forms were distributed on upcoming negotiations. Curriculum requirements need to be publicized effective Fall 1986. An inquiry was made of the status of the Professional Administrators organization. Roof repairing was discussed. Dr. John Rouch from the University of Texas-Austin will discuss under-prepared students. The Arts and Sciences parking lot will be designated for faculty only. Information regarding the General Motors curriculum program is to be sent to Associate Provost Hotchkiss. The Provost discussed the agenda for the Academic Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees. The agenda for the Chairmen/Deans meeting was discussed.
