The Degree Audit system was to be completed soon. Half of the school systems in Ohio elected not to participate in Senate Bill 140 for 1990-91. Budget preparations were not yet complete. Provost Gillis distributed copies of OBR's Regents Advisory Committee on Graduate Study's (RACGS's) "Guidelines and Procedures for Revew and Approval of Graduate Degree Programs." Yozwiak mentioned that there was interest in giving a Math Placement Test to freshmen in Summer 1990. Mapley reported he was serving on a subcommittee of the state committee on articulation. The task was to determine a "45 quarter hour common core." He suggested 8 q.h. English, 12 q.h. Humanities, 12 q.h. Social Studies, and 12 q.h. math/sciences. All were in favor of that suggestion. Yiannaki distributed a copy of a sample letter to be sent to past transient students urging them to consider attending the Summer 90 quarter. Loch indicated that the unions at General Motors are interested in a program of courses to enable employees to reach Level 7 (Senior Advisor) status. The question of the appropriate last day to add a class for a 5-week course was briefly discussed. |
