Academic Deans Council Minutes : October 16, 1990

Abstract

Material had been distributed to departments for consideration of the OBOR subsidy restudy. The Affiliated Scholars guidelines was distributed. An agreement is in draft which would allow YSU to keep the ROTC program, with the ROTC detachment at UA sending teachers for classes here, if YSU kept a minimum of six students per class. Written responses were requested for the Strategic Plan Review. Tod Porter and Teresa Riley had been given a $1000 award by EDUCOM for software development. The proposal for the Star Schools Distance Learning request would not be funded this year but would be resubmitted for next year's funding. Fall enrollment was up 4%. CUFS financial package was due by years end. Affirmative Action was to be stepped up. YSU-OEA wanted to cut down on the number of arbitrations. Paul Dutton wanted Jon Tafel to meet with faculty to help get the Program Excellence awards. OBOR sought comments on the articulation policy. AASCU document requesting programs of cooperation with high school was distributed. Exploration YSU had three days for visits. There was a discussion of a timetable for submission of new programs to OBOR. Summer School 91 schedules were due by Dec. 5. Lordstown program for "Advisors" was outlined by Loch. There was a request to discontinue the Student Directory but some deans objected.
