Academic Deans Council Minutes : December 06, 2006

Abstract

Observing the meeting was Cary Horvath, YSU Assistant Professor, Communications Studies. A draft ad for a founding dean of the CLASS college was circulating through the search committee and was to be placed in the "Chronicle of Higher Education." The annual Carols and Cocoa Dana Holiday Concert was scheduled for December 06. Fall commencement was to take place Sunday, December 17. Requests were received for additional, new accreditation programs. With regard to spending plans for course fees, it was expected the funds would be rolled over after approval at the Board meeting of December 13. Departments' academic review and planning reports were due from the departments to the respective Dean's Office yesterday. It was decided that since the initial submissions were a first draft, departments were to date the draft and send an electronic copy to Bege Bowers. Changes in the Schedule of Operations were made due to the conversion to Banner. There was a long discussion of the need for the Academic Division to be consulted before decisions were made that have academic impact. Dr. Kasvinsky reported on a meeting regarding the possibility of reducing the out-of-state differential for students from the Pennsylvania boarder counties. The deans also discussed possible consequences of Butler Community College's building of a new campus in New Castle.
