The College of Arts and Sciences offered two new languages for Fall semester, Arabic and Chinese. The new Dean of CLASS, Shearle Furnish, planned to visit the area. Commencement was set for May 18. Marilyn Ward reported on summer courses, workload reports, and overload request forms and reminded the deans non-teaching duty forms were due May 14. A parental inquiry regarding how students were notified that they have made the Dean's List was received. The President initiated a discussion to the EASC, the Deans, the Chairs, and the Academic Senators about the results of the campus-climate survey sent to the campus community recently. Council pondered whether it would be a good idea to post grievances on the web with responses. Dr. Kasvinsky reported that the Academic Senate Ad Hoc Committee on Tenure and Promotion submitted its report on tenure and promotion. The STEM Dean search committee is currently checking the references of candidates. |
