Academic Deans Council Minutes : April 02, 2008

Abstract

The Provost candidates' interviews were scheduled to begin the following day. Teri Riley, Director of Faculty Relations and negotiating team resource person, passed out a summary of changes in the YSU-OEA contract as they related to the deans roles. A summer calendar was to be emailed soon. Jef Davis passed out a proposal to the Deans Council regarding the International Undergraduate Admission Policies Regarding English Language Proficiency. The Dean Search Committee for the College of Fine and Performing Arts will meeting Monday to discuss the status of the search. The search for the Dean of the Bitonte College of Health and Human Services was in the process of formation. Three chair sabbaticals were approved for the upcoming academic year. Dr. Singler stated that the deans should have received by email the IDEA feedback system' s survey for chairs. The method by which students would be notified in the Portal system when a class was cancelled was to be reported to the chairs at the Academic Chairpersons Meeting. The class cancellation policy and the employee responsibilities in any given situation were discussed.
