Academic Deans Council Minutes : June 16, 2010

Abstract

Dean Phil Ginnetti was hired to be the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Edinboro as of July 1, 2010. Dr. Khawaja welcomed the guests and Sue Davis began the discussion about moving up deadlines for applications for admission to YSU and passed out a draft proposal to change admission deadlines. The FY 2011 budget document was distributed. Tuition was increased by 3.5%. Academic Affairs' portion of the budget is 54.5%, a decline that needed to be worked out. Payments to summer faculty would start hitting the budgets. Workload corrections and errors from 2009-10 needed to be corrected. There had not been a good resolution to the workload issue. Dr. Khawaja appointed Nancy White to work on the strategic development of distance learning issues and to look at the strategic plan and the academic sectors of the institutional strategic plan. The Funding for the Centers of Excellence was secured in the next budget. Dr. Khawaja asked Dr. Peter Kasvinsky to introduce a draft proposal of establishing a Nobel Prize award for faculty.
