Academic Deans Council Minutes : June 22, 2016

Abstract

Hillary Fuhrman, Director of Assessment, distributed a handout on YSU "True Peers" Institutional Peer Group Analysis. Associate Provost Myers distributed a handout outlining activities taking place within the Center for International Studies and Programs. Associate Vice President Swegan distributed the "Fall 2016 vs. Fall 2015 vs. Fall 2014 Comparison" and stated the enrollment figures for Fall 2016 looked promising. Dean Sanders reported there was a tuition increase on instructional fees for graduate students. Associate Vice President Hripko stated he will look into the Pendleton Apartments for transitional housing availability. The United Way campaign was to start soon. The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences received a major gift of $1 million from the estate of David and Helga Ives. Ms. Ward reported CourseLeaf training would take place July 12 and 13. An update was given on part-time faculty qualifications. Council members were asked to review their budgets and clear any deficits. All Non-Teaching Duty forms for 2016-2017 were due. W. Kamau Bell was the Centofanti Symposium lecturer and the date was changed to September 14 at Stambaugh Auditorium. 98 students attended the Summer Honors Institute. Associate Dean Wecht stated Dr. Phyllis Paul was to begin on July 1 as the new dean in Creative Arts and Communication. Summer Festival of the Arts would take place July 9-10. Scott Knudson was named the new Academic Information System Specialist in the College of Graduate Studies. Dean Howell stated that Darlene Unger from the Center for Autism left YSU to take a position in Akron. He asked the deans to contact him about any faculty who might be interested in helping with the Center.
