Provost Abraham announced that Dr. Corey Andrews resigned from the position of Coordinator of Program Review and Chairperson of the Program Review Committee of the Academic Senate. He also noted that concerns have been shared with him regarding the multiple documents required in Academic Affairs. It was decided to form a working group to develop a formalized plan or proposal. Associate Provost Ball stated the YSU Faculty Credentials Guidelines document outlines the normal process for credentialing full-time and part-time faculty, and its purpose was to detail any exceptions. The final candidate, Tyson Beale, was to be on campus interviewing for the Associate Provost for Student Success position. Interviews for the finalists for the Associate Provost for Academic Administration position was set for May 18. The position for the Maag Library Executive Director was posted on the YSU website. Finalists for the Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer were scheduled to be on campus the week of June 12. Council was asked for their thoughts on the commencement ceremonies that took place at the beginning of May. YSU was struggling with minority student retention issues. Provost Abraham shared his ideas and opened the floor for discussion. An update on the fall semester enrollment was given. The number of acceptances of international students tripled since the previous year. Up to 100 additional honors students for fall semester were expected. Council members were to familiarize themselves and their faculty with the student travel policy which was set to go to the Board in June for approval. A delegation from YSU traveled to Lorain Community College for a partnership discussion. Dean Howell would be teaching at the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland from May 26-June 9. Dr. Martha Pallante was named as the new Associate Dean of CLASS. Dean Sanders stated his office was having difficulty with scholarships. Chairs were to have edited their pages in the academic catalog. The computer lab in Maag Library was moved from the 4th floor to the main floor. |
