Academic Deans Council Minutes : April 18, 2018

Abstract

Mr. Howard notified Council that a Bookstore Advisory Committee was being formed, and he was seeking recommendations for faculty members to serve on this committee. Council was reminded about the University policy on conflict of interest, which stated that faculty members who adopt their own textbook cannot earn royalties for the book. There are five policies being reviewed for inclusion in the June Board of Trustees committee meetings: 3356-10-08 Sabbatical leave for department chairpersons, 3356-10-20 Faculty workload, 3356-10-23 Chair compensation, 3356-10-07 Organization of instruction and 33565-9.0302 Employment of students-federal work-study programs. Associate Provost Pintar stated that disagreements were expressed regarding the department governance documents. If concerns were solely about workload, the upcoming University Policy on workload would address the concerns. Other concerns should be forwarded to the Appeals Committee. Associate Provost Pintar reminded Council that representatives from Academic Partnerships, a marketing firm, were to be on campus April 25-28. The search for the Executive Director of Maag Library was to commence on April 26. The building dedication of Fok Hall was set for May 4. Ms. Ward noted that Council recommended that doctoral program tuition rates increase by six percent and all other graduate programs raised by two percent. Accreditation was granted for the Master of Athletic Training.
