dc.description.abstract Ms. Verdone shared with Council the results of YSU's ODHE mini-grant on Best Practices for Transfer Students. Ms. Verdone stated three colleges cleared the general education model at 100 percent for spring 2018, and the other three colleges were not far behind. Dean Sanders indicated he wished to streamline the process to accept graduate students and hire graduate assistants. Dean Sanders stated he has reviewed the information from Burning Glass regarding its technology, it searches job postings on a consistent basis and looks for necessary skills, and he was impressed with the product. Acting Dean King gave an overview of competency-based education (CBE). All-faculty meeting was scheduled for August 20.There would be more than 300 new Honors College students. United Way kick off took place earlier in the day. Dean Blair shared her concerns about Experience Y. Associate Provost Ball stated deans should have received from their chairpersons hundreds of updated pages for the eCatalog. Dean Licata thanked Council for its support of Lynda.com. The Bitonte College of Health and Human Services was celebrating 25 years as a college, and a few events will be planned for the academic year. Associate Provost Berardini stated she had been analyzing courses that have high DFW rates, and she was reviewing the type of student support available for those classes. Colleen Duchon was the new Health & Human Services librarian at Maag Library. Small renovations were being done at the library to increase study areas. The Dana School of Music was celebrating its 150th year, and many events were planned in celebration. The Beeghly College of Education was using statistical analyses to identify factors predictive of student success in teacher licensure programs. The Ph.D. in Health Sciences was approved by Graduate Council and would be reviewed at the state level. Also the College of Graduate Studies planned to celebrate its 50th anniversary. A Deans Only meeting was planned for the the near future to discuss the Computer Refresh program. Ms. Ward stated she was assisting Dr. Pintar in the workload audit. en_US
