dc.description.abstract The Jambar reports on Ohio's "Tobacco 21" law which was placed into effect on Oct. 17 and makes it illegal for individuals under the age of 21 to purchase "cigarettes, other tobacco produces, and alternative nicotine products." Dr. Ray Beiersdorfer's wish was granted to be made into a diamond and put into the Clarence R. Smith Mineral Museum when he died. Three judicial candidates running for a six-year term as a Youngstown Municipal Court judge took center stage at YSU by participating in a public debate on Oct. 15 in Kilcawley Center. Martin Sheen, award-winning actor and social activist, is this years Skeggs Lecture and spoke to the YSU community on Oct. 16 at Stambaugh Auditorium. A Wisconsin-based startup accelerator, gener8tor, expanded its operations to downtown Youngstown by having one of its first collaborations with the Youngstown Business Incubator with the goal to inspire YSU students to partake in entrepreneurship workshops. Campus rec center student employee, Jeffery Logan, is featured. WYSU celebrates 50 years on the airwaves. DOYO Live, a marketing conference held in Youngstown, gave students the opportunity to network and speak one-on-one with professionals. The "Vegan Bazaar" is held on the third Thursday of every month inside the Concept Studio on Federal Street and features the best cruelty-free, plant based products, food, beverages and services in our regional area. Her Primitive Ways Red Road Apothecary in Youngstown featured Feline Fall Fest for the Campus Cat's adoption event. International student populations drop nationally and locally. October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Mahoning Matters, a digital news platform providing a "focus on vital topics that impact the daily lives of Mahoning Valley residents," launched on Oct. 10. Fresh off their first tournament title in program history, The Penguin bowling team got right back to business. The fall season for the YSU women's golf team ended October 15 after the team placed fifth at the University Dayton Fall Invitational. YSU's cross country program brought home a pair of championships in the Disney Cross Country Classic held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando. en_US
