More than 275 student veterans attend YSU, and to ease the veterans transition from military life to college life, the Carl A. Nunziato Veterans Resource Center had a Warrior Awareness Training for faculty and staff. YSU rallies to support Women's History Month by hosting several events. YSU students with international travel plans for spring break are encouraged to share travel itineraries with the university due to the coronavirus. The YSU community held week long events for National Eating Disorder Awareness Week to educate students about eating disorders and help combat these issues. YSU's Academic Senate approved a change to all major requirements during a meeting on December 4, 2019, requiring students to complete at least 39 upper division credit hours instead of the previous 48. The Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program on campus is featured. The power of healing through music and art in the valley is looked at. The Dana School of Music's Helix Saxophone Quartet will be a semifinalist in the North American Saxophone Alliance 2020 Biennial Conference at Arizona State University on March 6-9. The World Language Clubs celebrate Mardi Gras festivities. A rally in support of YSU's part-time faculty will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church March 12. Bouldering, climbing on rocks that are very short without a rope, is a growing sport in Youngstown and YSU. Men's golf team looks for a fresh start for spring season after a rough fall season. Elle Buffenbarger, pitcher for the YSU softball team, earns the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week. The men's basketball team advances in the Horizon League Tournament. The YSU sprinters steers the men's and women's track and field teams to the Horizon League Indoor Championships. |
