Annual Parent Convocation to take place; WYSU-FM to broadcast Pittsburgh orchestra series; educator Daniel Fader to open YSU lecture series; broadcast management students gain experience in computers; final classes scheduled for free enterprise training

Abstract

The 12th annual Parent Convocation, for parents of YSU students, will be held on September 21 in Kilcawley Center. The purpose of the event is to acquaint parents with YSU, its programs, and the campus. WYSU-FM (88.5) announced that it will open a 26-week broadcast series by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary. Dr. Daniel Fader, nationally known educator and author, will open YSU’s Special Lecture Series. Speaking on “Love as Attention: How to Learn by Listening to Children,” the lecture will take place on October 9 in Kilcawley Center. Broadcast management students in speech communication are gaining first-hand experience using microcomputers and software to sell commercial advertising time. The students are using a new $10,000 software systems, $el-A-Vision, which was donated to YSU by the vendor, SoftPedal, Inc.
