dc.description.abstract	Tension splices used in conventional roof trusses were analyzed and tested to verify the existing analysis and existing designs. Based upon the analytical results, test specimens were strain gaged at calculated critical locations and tested to failure. Points of critical stress and modes of failure were determined. The adequacy of the analytical procedures and present designs were compared to the test results and recommendations were made for modifications. Based upon the recommened modifications, newly designed specimens were tested to failure.	en_US
