dc.description.abstract The nuclear DNA value of a clone derived from an apomictic isolate Panamanian 2-4 w.t. of Didymium iridis was measured employing both the Feulgen and absorption microspectrophotometry. This method allowed us to distinguish between homothallic and apomictic isolates. This data demonstrates that there is no alternation of generations in the amoebae and plasmodia stage, indicating that plasmodial development is apomictic. The DNA values also suggest that the Panamanian 2-4 isolate is aneuploid. en_US
