dc.description.abstract Students who decide to major in a foreign language will find their options limited at YSU. Students are concert about anti-Asian discrimination on campus. A student shares her terrifying experiences with binge drinking. Though cases of COVID-19 on campus have been decreasing, YSU announced Wednesday that there have been increased levels of COVID-19 detected in Kilcawley House. For the first time since December 2019, seniors graduating in the fall will have the opportunity to receive their diplomas in person inside Beeghly Center. Students are given tips on fire safety. The Academic Senate motioned to move forward with voting on two proposal, one proposing a vaccine mandate and the other opposing the retrenchment and reduction of faculty and programs. Advice is given for job interviews, handshakes and professional dress. Campus residency numbers continue to decline, reflecting a national increase in college students commuting to classes. YSU art students complete the Andrews Avenue memory mural. Justina Gazao,clinical, addiction and school counseling graduate student, won the Mental Health Awareness Art Contest. The Black Student Union held an event called Critical Conversations on Nov. 19 that covered topics of college burnout, cancel culture, critical race theory, current law and politics and more. YSU engineering students participate in the Little Squaw Creek Stream Renovation project. The YSU women's basketball team starts the season 5-0. The McFadden family legacy is still kicking at YSU. Major injury leads to offensive struggles for the YSU men's basketball team. Former YSU defensive coordinator Mark Dantonio donated $100,000 to the athletic department for use in its graduate assistant program. The YSU Penguins concluded their 2021 football season with a 35-18 win against Southern Illinois University Salukis on November 20. en_US
