Academic Senate Meeting of April 06, 2022

Abstract

Included is the agenda, minutes, presentation, reports, video recording, and transcript of the Academic Senate meeting of April 06, 2022. This meeting was held virtually and in-person.The Senate Executive Committee: introduced Ms. Nkyah Edison, Senate Academic Support; called for a General Coordinator since Joe Palardy will be stepping down; and announced part-time senate appointments. The Elections/Balloting Committee reported all the positions for this academic year are full and all but STEM are finished for the upcoming academic year. Provost Brien Smith is waiting on departments to finish curricula maps and carousel rotations. He also provided a brief of the Academic Program Transformation process. The Academic Programs Committee reported on moving an academic program online. The Academic Standards Committee reported a student's change of grade with course repetition and how transfer students can obtain honors status. The Governance Committee reported on the establishment of a UWLO (University-Wide Learning Outcomes) task force. The Design Committee reported on recommendations for improving campus activity in the surrounding area with gateways, visual links, and proposing a campus wildlife habitat. The Teaching and Learning Committee reported on what teaching and learning looks like at YSU and ways to improve. Topics in New Business include: Conditional Admit Policy, University-Wide Learning Outcomes, and Ransomware Remediation.
