dc.description.abstract Soon-to-be graduates of Youngstown State University will walk across the court of Beeghly Center on December 18 to receive their diplomas. YSU was awarded $15.8 million in grants for the fiscal year of 2022, surpassing the $14.4 million earned last year and setting a new record. As enrollment drops, Athletics has been helping fight declining enrollment by adding new sports to attract students. Some art students are having trouble finishing their degrees because of cuts to the program. YSU student-athletes earn income through NIL partnerships. Students are getting into the spirit of Christmas through the student organization of the Orthodox Christian Fellowship. Some international students share their winter and holiday traditions. The Youngstown community gets into the joyful winter celebrations at the Flea on Phelps and the annual Holiday Light-Up Night. The Jewish Community Center holds winter events and opens an ice rink for the community.The Hip Hop Club is featured. The YSU track & field team began its seasons as it hosted the YSU Icebreaker presented by Southwoods Health at the WATTS on Dec. 2. The YSU swimming & diving teams broke numerous YSU records at the Miami (Ohio) Invitational, Dec. 1-3. The YSU men's basketball team secures its first Horizon League victory against Wright State. The YSU women's basketball continue winning in the Horizon League Conference. en_US
