dc.description.abstract YSU-OEA sought a strike vote from its membership due to stalled contract negotiations. Funding for the new University-Community Daycare center was placed in limbo until the University’s Budget Committee could exercise its approval. Controversial scholar Dr. Immanuel Velikovsky was slated to speak on campus. Veteran ballet dancer and YSU freshman Marilyn Jones was profiled. The Apu Trilogy, an Indian film series, was to be shown on campus. A Foreign Language Night was planned. Continuing Education was to offer a non-credit course in “Geology of National Parks.” The basement of Ward Beecher Science Hall was converted into a student snack bar and lounge. Nationally-known singer Al Green was to do a benefit show, with proceeds going to the scholarship fund. The Annual Greek Sing was dedicated to the memory of the recently-deceased retired YSU football coach Dwight V. “Dike” Beede. en_US
