dc.description.abstract The synthesis of several phosphonate esters via reaction of the salt of bis(2,2,2-trifluroethyl) phosphite and a given alpha halo carbonyl compound in a Michaelis-Becker reaction scheme. As an alternative to the use of strong base, we employed cesium carbonate as a mild reagent in hopes of successfully synthesizing our target compounds in high yields. en_US
