dc.description.abstract Tom Shipka, chair of the Academic Senate, presided. Nominations for Senate chair and members of the Charter and Bylaws Committee were announced. President David C. Sweet addressed the Senate on enrollment. University Provost, Dr. Tony Atwater addressed the Senate on the following: an update on Two University Initiatives; the Freshman Readers Dialogue for Academic Year 2004-05; New degree programs proposals awaiting OBOR approval; YSU Early College High School and YSU Faculty Engagement; and topics for Academic Senate Input and Involvement for AY 2004-05. The Senate Executive Committee reported on the topic benefits for domestic partnerships and the nomination of a Senate representative to the Ohio Faculty Council (Dr. Paul Sracic was elected by acclamation). The Academic Programs Committee reported on proposed programs approved after the last Senate meeting in May. The Undergraduate Curriculum Committee listed course proposals that have been approved by the committee and have passed the objection period. General Education Committee announced the major work this year for the committee will be assessment. The Professional Conduct Committee attached a report to the agenda concerning an issue of professional misconduct.
