Academic Senate Minutes Meeting of May 30, 1990

Abstract

Dr. Beaubien, Chair, presided. The Elections and Balloting Committee reported that the newly elected Departmental Senators, At-Large Senators and Elections and Balloting Committee members will be appended to the minutes of this meeting. The Charter and Bylaws Committee reported on adding a new paragraph to Bylaw 6 (2) concerning the Student Academic Affairs Committee. The committee also motioned to amend the procedures of electing a Chair of the Senate. The Senate Executive Committee reported on completing assignments to 42 committees, the discussion regarding the resale of complimentary copies of textbooks, and a motion to encourage the Board of Trustees to establish a search committee to conduct a national search for the next president of YSU, if a vacancy is announced. The Academic Planning Committee reported on the process of having a workable, precise, and clear five-year plan. The Academic Standards and Events Committee motioned to add a warning statement to the student schedule on the restricted grading options. The Continuing Education Subcommittee reported on its mission and funding mechanism. The Academic Research Committee reported on Quest '90.
