Academic Senate Minutes Meeting of May 02, 1990

Abstract

Dr. Beaubien, Chair, presided. The Elections and Balloting Committee proposed two motions to amend the election procedure for the Chair of the Academic Senate. The Charter and Bylaws Committee responded to the questions raised at the last meeting by Dean Sutton on whether the charge of the Academic Programs Division violated the the wording in the YSU/OEA Agreement. The Committee ruled that it did not. The Senate Executive Committee reported to charge the Academic Standards and Events Committee with the responsibility of monitoring the implementation and effects of Senate Bill 140, the Academic Mission Statement was forwarded to President Humphrey, and additional appointments were made to the Ad Hoc Committee on the Role of Faculty in Enhancing Minority Access/Success at YSU. Larry Esterly reported on the Faculty Advisory Committee meetings. The Library and Media Services Committee motioned to approve the library budget for the 1990-1991 Academic Year. Under New Business it was motioned that the Senate Executive Committee appoint an Ad Hoc Study Committee to study the semester system.
