dc.description.abstract Sunil Ahuja, chair of the Academic Senate, presided. A report from the ad hoc Committee on College Realignment focused on a report of the Arts and Sciences Transition Committee and a summary of STEM2 initiatives from the Board of Regents. A report from President Swseet focused on: a meeting with Governor Strickland and presidents of all the public, community, and private universities, the Northeast Ohio Collaboration Study Commission, the Board of Trustees of NEOUCOM, the new University Budget Committee, the Banner system for students and financial aid, the Vice President for Finance search, the architect for the new Business College building, and a performance report from the Board of Regents. The Senate Executive Committee reported on the need to make changes of the Senate's Charter and Bylaws due to the realignment of the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering and Technology, moving up the process of receiving request for Senate committee assignments, the creation of the Budget Information Committee, and a meeting of the Senate Executive Committee with Neal McNally addressing the summer school budget and the share of monies going to academic affairs compared to the rest of the institution. A list of courses and programs approved by the Academic Programs Committee, Undergraduate Curriculum Committee and the General Education Committee are attached to the agenda. Elections and Balloting Committee reported on the breakdown of the number of at-large and department Senate seats after the formation of the STEM College and the CLASS College. In New Business a motion pass that the Academic Standards Committee of the Faculty Senate consider a proposal to eliminate the oral intensive course requirement from the General Education Model.
