Academic Senate Minutes Meeting of October 01, 2003

Abstract

Tom Shipka, chair of the Academic Senate, presided. Nominations for Senate Chair, Vice-Chair, and the Charter and Bylaws Committee were taken. A Special Resolution of Appreciation for Dr. Bege Bowers for her years as Secretary of the Academic Senate was passed. The Senate Executive Committee reported the Professional Conduct Policy approved by the Senate last school year has gone through a series of revisions and will reach the Board of Trustees for approval at its December meeting. Tom Shipka appointed a special committee to revisit the Student Academic Grievances procedures and processes. Concern is given over the YSU Board of Trustees revision on the selection of administrative and executive officers of the University which permits the administration to forego the traditional search process in special cases. The Ohio Faculty Council reported. An informational report on the status of deliberations on statewide articulation and transfer policy is given. An update is given on the Bitonte College of Health and Human Services. The General Education Committee listed newly certified courses attached to the agenda.
