Academic Senate Minutes Meeting of September 12, 2007

Abstract

Sunil Ahuja, chair of the Academic Senate, presided. The Executive Committee appointed Kathylynn Feld as Parliamentarian. Nominations for the Chair of Academic Senate and members of the Charter and Bylaws Committee are taken. A report was given by President David Sweet announcing Dr. Khawaja as interim Provost, potential involvement with the community college and the state master plan for higher education in Ohio. Interim Provost Khawaja reported on the Negotiations Management Group and the strategic plan. The Executive Committee reported senate committees for the 2007-2008 academic year had been appointed, an amendment to the Charter and Bylaws which requires a two-thirds vote and half of the faculty voting for it to pass needed to be voted on, the first Senate-sponsored "civility hour" of the academic year will take place Friday and Tammy King will continue to serve on the Ohio Faculty Council this year. The Academic Program Committee and Undergraduate Curriculum Committee attached a list of approved changes to the agenda. The Academic Planning Committee gave a report on the evaluation of the committee. General Education Committee reported on a list of approved General Education courses.
