Academic Senate Minutes Meeting of December 05, 2007

Abstract

Sunil Ahuja, chair of the Academic Senate, presided. President Sweet gave a brief update on the Provost search committee, planning for a community college, and modifications made to the budget. YSU Board of Trustee chairperson, John Pogue gave a report on the Northeast Ohio Universities Collaboration and Innovation Study Commission of which he is a member. The Senate Executive Committee reported on the Northeast Ohio Commission, the Chancellor's 10-year Master Plan and the community college. The Ohio Faculty Council report focused on guest speaker Bruce Johnson, president of the IUC, and on the chancellor's pending 10 year Master Plan. Approved changes from the Academic Programs Committee and the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee are attached to the minutes. New Business pertained to: the Ohio Board of Regents' revised program approval process, a survey on faculty roles, skills and work, and a resolution concerning the fair use and protection of electronic classrooms (passed unanimously).
