Academic Senate Minutes Meeting of April 07, 1999

Abstract

Jim Morrison, chair of the Academic Senate, presided. Donna Esterly, executive director, Computing & Information Systems, presented a brief progress report on YSU's preparation for Y2K. The Senate Executive Committee reported on the following: Senate appointments will soon be finalized; Bruce Beeghly, chair of the YSU Board of Trustees, requested the Senate appoint two faculty representatives to the Presidential Search Committee; and the committee also approved criteria to present to the Board of Trustees to encourage a wide and open search. The Charter and Bylaws Committee motioned a change in Senate Bylaw 6, Section 2i2 to prevent conflict in responsibilities of the General Education Committee and the Academic Standards Committee. The Academic Programs Committee reported on the Early Childhood proposal and the approval of programs for Q2S (semester conversion). The General Education Committee reported that the committee has prepared forms for general education course proposals and for intensive components.
