dc.description The first Youngstown University Honors and Awards Program was held on May 2, 1960 in the C.J. Strouss Memorial Auditorium in Jones Hall. During the proceedings, 21 students were recognized for various scholastic and extracurricular achievements and 172 were named to the honor roll. Today the annual Honors Convocation continues to celebrate academic excellence. Top students from each of the four class standings are recognized. Scholarships and awards are presented. Distinguished Professor Awards are given to members of the faculty that have excelled in one of four areas: teaching, scholarship, public service, or university service. en_US
