Presented are the minutes of the meeting of the Board of Governors of Youngstown College on November 8, 1934. Director Jones provided a report of the Special Committee assembled on the occasion of the visit to Youngstown College of Dr. Boyd from the Ohio Department of Education. The acceptance of credits earned at YMCA schools (such as YoCo or Fenn College) was discussed. In addition, the title of the College’s chief executive officer was brought up (e.g. Director vs. President). The financial report was put before the Board, as was the enrollment report. YoCo broadcast a radio program over WSM in Nashville, Tennessee. Due to the need for expensive repairs, the Trade School building was given to the Public Library. 17 students transferred to YoCo and 58 from YoCo to other colleges. The creation of a football team was questioned, as was the continuation of the high school department. FERA funds were to be used exclusively to purchase books for the YoCo library, and a motion passed to extend responsibility for repairs to the building at 416 Wick Avenue to the YMCA. One document reports on a special board meeting held on October 9, 1934. Documents are variants of each other. |
