dc.description.abstract PAYO : Poverty Awareness in Youngstown, a service project started by Megan Evans and Ashley Orr, will schedule events to raise awareness and hold monthly collections to care for impoverished citizens. Youngstown State University's Center for Urban and Regional Studies unveiled a citywide economic development plan. Alicia Prieto-Langarica, assistant professor of mathematics and statistics at YSU, is collaborating with Marnie Saunders, a biomedical engineering professor at the University of Akron, to battle osteoporosis in astronauts. Ray Beiersdorfer, professor in the department of geological and technical studies, is holding the Energy and the Environmental Lecture Series at YSU. YSU is set to begin a specialized Master of Accountancy program in the fall of 2016. David Stout, the John S. Doris M Andrews chair in accounting at YSU, was awarded the 2015 Outstanding Accounting Educator Award from the American Accounting Association in Chicago. Russ Nolan, a New York based jazz saxophonist, will host and perform at a workshop at YSU. Sports features the addition of two new assistant coaches for the YSU basketball team, Kevin Bruinsma and Stew Robinson. The YSU Cross-country team prepares for the All-Ohio Championships. en_US
