Academic Senate Meeting Minutes of September 10, 2014

Abstract

Senate Chairperson Chet Cooper presided. Nominations for Senate Chair were taken with Chet Cooper being the only nominee and by default elected as Senate Chair. President James Tressel addressed the Academic Senate and discussed the status of the Provost Search. He also discussed admissions and retention. Chet Cooper is working to address the labor intensive issues in the Concur travel system. Dan O'Neill and Amy Flick were requested to be reappointed as Senate parliamentarian and Secretary respectively.The Elections and Balloting Committee reported that elections are ongoing for at-large Senate positions. The Academic Programs Committee gave an informational report. The Library Committee gave a verbal report on the decline of its acquisitions funding. The Undergraduate Curriculum Committee reported on course changes. Carol Lamb reported on creating and submitting paperless curriculum changes. In unfinished business, Michael Jerryson suggested the Academic Standards Committee look into changing the YSU grade scale from an ABCDF system to a +/- system.
