Senate Chairperson, Chet Cooper, presided. Chet Cooper reminded senators to get reports in on time and that committees should be meeting once a semester with reports to the Senate. An ad hoc Emergency Preparedness Committee was formed to develop policies and procedures that would make campus safer. Academic Events Committee reported on graduation and the honors convocation. It was suggested that each college hold its own honors convocation, that two commencements be held in the spring, each comprised of three colleges, and summer commencement will no longer be held. The Academic Standards Committee reported on the rewording of "grade requirements," and scheduling classes only during building hours. The General Education Committee reported that two courses were approved and that students who receive an ACT Score of 28 or above, would be placed into English 1551. The Honors Committee reported on changes to the Honors program from 24 hours to 25 and the reduction of general education honors courses from 12 to 9. The Profession Conduct Committee reported on one complaint which was turned down. Undergraduate Curriculum Committee reported on approved courses. In New Business, a Resolution of No Confidence in Interim Provost Martin Abraham was defeated. In Unfinished Business, the inclusion of part-time faculty in the Academic Senate was discussed. |
