dc.description.abstract The synthesis of carbamates via Curtius rearrangement utilizing aryl acyl azides together with a wide range of alcohol-containing complex organic molecules was explored through the use of heat. Additionally, the intramolecular insertion of oxycarbonyl nitrenes generated from thermally decomposed azidoformates was studied with several high and low boiling solvents to observe behavior. The insertion of these thermally generated nitrenes into the solvents used may serve as a new way of functionalizing some stable organic compounds and solvents that may originally appear inert in many reaction systems. en_US
