President Jim Tressell addressed the Senate to express gratitude for patience with the Wick Avenue reconstruction, for the work involved in HLC preparation, for the energy and engagement being created with students, institution, community, and benefactors, and for participation in supporting the mission and improving the efforts of the institution to that end. He also noted that the We See Tomorrow Campaign was launched. The Senate Executive Committee reported on the following: Amy Flick will be the Program Review Director effective today; Charter and Bylaws are meeting to work on revisions; the Provost is having a brown bag lunch November 2; Senate committees are nearly full and are shifting; committees must submit minutes to the Senate Secretary; and agenda items must be submitted before the agenda goes out. The Ohio Faculty Council Report focused on a number of bills that will impact higher education. The Elections and Balloting Committee reported new representatives from STEM and HHS. Unfinished Business pertained to the Shared Governance document which was endorsed by the Senate. In New Business, an updated of the HLC Accreditation is given with forums being held on each of the criterions. The Tuition Guarantee is introduced to the Senate by Neal McNally. |
