Presented are the minutes of the 358th meeting of the Youngstown State University Board of Trustees. This was a regular meeting. The oath of office was administered to new Student Trustee Rocco L. Core and to YSU’s first National/Global Trustee Eric A.Spiegel. The President welcomed Mr. Core and Mr. Spiegel to the Board. Committee reports were heard. Dr. Randall Goldberg reported on the history of the Dana School of Music and notable alumni, with Dana about to celebrate its 150th anniversary. Dr. Sherri Harper Woods (Social Work) described a student service learning trip to Haiti. Natalie Lacich (Senior, Early Childhood Intervention) described her study abroad experience in the Czech Republic. Jared Vanesdale (Senior, Mechanical Engineering) described his internship experience at Goodyear Tire & Rubber. The Board resolved to modify the policy on the employment of students under the Federal Work Study Program; to authorize the conferral of an honorary degree upon Mare Malandro; to accept a gift of real estate; to accept WYSU memberships; to modify the Use of University Vehicles Policy; to modify the Use of University Equipment Policy; to approve interfund transfers; to ratify personnel actions in Athletics; to modify the policy on vacation leave, professional /administrative staff and department chairpersons not covered by a collective bargaining agreement; to modify the policy on civic leave with pay, excluded professional/administrative and excluded classified staff; to modify the policy on sick leave accrual, use and conversion, excluded professional/administrative and excluded classified staff; to modify the Resignation of Employment Policy; to modify the Classified Civil Service Employees Policy; to modify the policy on supplemental pay for faculty and professional/administrative staff; to modify the policy on workload; to modify the policy on political activities of employees; to approve the Relocation Allowance for New Full-Time Employee Policy; to ratify the labor agreement between the university and the YSU Association of Professional/Administrative Staff (YSU-APAS); to provide salary adjustments for professional/administrative staff excluded from collective bargaining; and to ratify personnel actions – faculty and P/A staff. President Tressel then recognized the passing of six individuals associated with YSU. |
