Academic Deans Council Minutes : November 19, 2008

Abstract

Updates were given on the Fine and Performing Arts Dean search and the Bitonte College of Heath and Human Services Dean search. The STEM College's Center for Transportation and Materials Engineering had a successful visit with representatives from the Department of Transportation. 100% of students who took the nurse anesthetist and registered dietician exams passed. A number of departmental governance documents had not been updated annually, and a faculty member planned to file a grievance. Updating the documents should be on the yearly agenda of all departments whether the governance document required changes or not. Deans Council discussed the proposed Schedule of Operations. Mike Hrishenko announced that Media and Academic Computing (MAC) hoped to finish outfitting four classrooms over the winter break. Deans Council had a lengthy discussion about putting together a suitable proposal on the college fee concept. Interim Dean Elias passed out a detailed Program Development Overview of the Bitonte College of Health and Human Services and went over the information at length with Deans Council members. Marilyn Ward passed out information on the funds recently approved and available for purchasing instructional equipment. Sharon Stringer passed out the Detailed Progress Chart on Assessment Plans and Reports. Dr. Khawaja stated that the supplemental pay proposal is going to the Board of Trustees for approval. The Holiday Schedule was discussed.
