Ms. White explained two pilots were tested fall semester as part of the First Day Ready Program. The program allows students to have access to their course materials on the first day of the semester, with students billed for their materials through the Bursar's office. Ms. Hardy distributed booklets for the Career Fair that was to take place on Wednesday, September 27 and asked the deans to reach out to faculty to let students know the relevance of attending the fair. Associate Provost Ball stated there were too many students graduating from YSU who failed to fulfill the general education requirements. A discussion ensued. It was decided that students' registration should be locked when they reached 75 credit hours so they would have to meet with their academic advisors to complete a pre-audit of the coursework. This would insure that they would be on track to graduate on time and with correct courses. Dr. Ball stated the Ohio Department of Higher Education expected YSU to make the transfer process easy and seamless for students coming from other Ohio institutions. Associate Provost Berardini asked for feedback from the deans regarding Starfish usage, including what was liked/not liked about the system. Dean Steelant announced the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering wished to change its name to the Department of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering. This would be inclusive of the three programs offered within the department. Pending approval of the new contract, students would be evaluating all faculty every semester for every course. YSU purchased software to guarantee at least a 65% response rate from students. Associate Provost Pintar asked for comments on the schedule of operations. |
