Abstract

The second annual "Award for Excellence" in high school teaching will be presented by the YSU chapter of Sigma XI, the Scientific Research Society, at its spring banquet in May. The YSU Chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma, the national Criminal Justice Honor Society, will present "Law Enforcement Careers Day" Feb. 18. "Star Wars," the biggest box office hit in movie history, premiers via satellite and in stereo at 7:30p.m. March 2 over YSU's fine arts radio station, WYSU-FM (88.5), a National Public Radio affiliate. The YSU Theatre presentation of "The Fantasticks" will highlight an all-day workshop for high school students March 6. 370 students from 24 high schools in 8 counties came to YSU Friday to take part in a workshop sponsored by the University Theatre and the Dana School of Music. As the need for clinical workers increases, three area hospitals are contributing to the growth and knowledge of new skills in the laboratory by training YSU students. Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital, Shenango Valley Osteopathic Hospital, and Warren General Hospital are part of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program set up by YSU's Allied Health Department.
