dc.description.abstract |
In the present investigation attempts have been made to determine the effect of high pressure on the kinetics of phase transformation in the gold-cadmium system (beta phase). Resistivity measurements were carried out for four alloy compositions in the beta phase region in the temperature range of 0°C to 120°C at pressures of 15000 to 30000 atmospheres. The results indicate significant changes in resistivity and transformation temperatures. The change in the transformation temperatures has been interpreted on the
basis of a thermodynamic equation using independent parameters. The other results have been interpreted on the basis of the Band Theory of Metals. The experimental
results agree well with theoretically predicted values. |
