State Senator Harry Meshel was to open the University’s observance of Black History Month. The General Fee came under scrutiny by a University budget subcommittee. A career day (pertaining to jobs in government and social services) was announced. The Spanish Club promoted a scholarship, while senior citizens praised the “over 60” program. Student Council continued fighting its battle to establish a campus daycare center. Russell Means, leader of the American Indian Movement and the second battle of Wounded Knee, was scheduled to speak on campus. |
