Finding Aid for the WYSU-FM Records, 1965-2006

Abstract

The largest part of the collection contains the subject files, which provide information on various projects, people, and internal affairs of WYSU-FM from 1965 to 2004. Some of the major projects include installing additional transmitters, becoming involved in television, and bringing the national radio program “Whad ‘Ya Know” to Youngstown. The collection also contains a substantial amount of photographs of WYSU-FM personnel. There is a compact disc copy of the first broadcast October 23, 1969. In addition, the collection contains printed materials and correspondence. The program guides make up another large part of the collection. These guides detail special events, feature articles, and show daily broadcast schedules. The guides evolved from seasonal brochures to monthly booklets to glossy magazines and are currently bi-monthly booklets.
