dc.description.abstract The purpose of this thesis is to examine the concept of quotient spaces by means of the identification map and the identification topology. The transference of basic topological properties from the domain of an identification function to its range (or vice versa) is explored. In addition a search for maximal and minimal topologies on the domain space of a function that insure an identification mapping provides some original results and thoughts on the topic of quotients of topological spaces. en_US
